If you own a vape, a regular maintenance routine is a must. If your vape just arrived in the mail it probably looks shiny and sleek. Give it around 2 months and it’s going to be dirty as ever. What I’m trying to say is that your vape won’t look or function the same after a couple of weeks. When this happens, it doesn’t mean that you should toss it away and go buy a new one.
You just need to clean it up and restore it to its former glory. Cleaning your vape not only makes sure that it looks good, but it also gives performance benefits and makes the vaping experience a pleasant one.
Below are a few tips on how to clean your mod and before we get started let’s start with a basic vape anatomy lesson.
What Are the Main Components of a Vape?
Before we get on to the guide there are a few terms you need to get used to. This guide is mainly for beginners because seasoned vapers already know how to keep their device in check.
A vape usually is made up of 3 parts,
- The Cartridge (Tank): This is the part that holds your vape juice
- The Vapour Coils: This consists of resistance wire and a cotton wick that absorbs and heats up the liquid to create smoke.
- The battery: This is used to power the device up.
Although there are various types of vapes out there the basic anatomy is always the same. Just the features and the amount of power differ between different types.
How to Clean the Tank?
Like I mentioned before this is the part that holds the vape liquid. It is quite important to clean this part especially when switching between flavors. Mixing up flavors doesn’t work too well. So, adding your new flavor without cleaning your tank will give you a lingering taste of your old flavor.
There are 2 ways to clean your tank and the first method does the job quite well but every now and then you should use the 2nd method to ensure the best taste of your vape liquid.
Method 1: Simple Rinse
- Get a bowl of warm water.
- Disassemble the vape.
- Empty your tank.
- Place the tank into the bowl and thoroughly wash the tank.
- Using a paper towel completely dry each component before assembling back again.
Method 2: Alcohol Rinse
The process is exactly similar but instead of soaking the tank in a bowl of warm water we use a damp paper towel with alcohol (Vodka works best) and scrub out the stains.
How to Clean the Vape Coil?
The vape coil isn’t usually cleaned but is rather replaced. Wetting a coil is a very bad idea. So therefore, once the coil wears out the best thing is to replace it and this is quite an easy process which can be done at home.
Cleaning your vape tank and replacing your coil are the most necessary types of maintenance a vape requires. This can be easily done at home in a matter of minutes.
